Piazza San Pietro e La Basilica
St. Peter's Square and St. Peter's Basilica represent the spiritual and symbolic heart of the Vatican: the square, with Bernini's famous colonnade, welcomes the faithful like an open embrace, while the basilica, a masterpiece of Renaissance art, is one of the most important and evocative places in Christianity.

The Vatican Museums are the most important museum complex in Italy. Millions of people come from all over the world every year to admire the works housed in Vatican City. Its rooms house works and masterpieces by important artists and masters, renowned throughout the world, such as Leonardo da Vinci, Caravaggio, Titian, Michelangelo Buonarroti, and Raphael. The Sistine Chapel is frescoed by Michelangelo Buonarroti, who covered the ceiling and the wall above the altar. Directly above the altar is the famous "Last Judgement." The eyes of the entire world can admire it, through media cameras, during official ceremonies involving the pontiff as well as during the Conclave when the Church elects the new Pope.

The square features an elegant garden dominated by the imposing Palace of Justice, known to the Romans as the "Palazzaccio": a rectangular building constructed entirely of travertine, with an imposing presence. It was built between 1899 and 1910 to house the Supreme Court of Cassation.

The Trastevere district is 3.5 km from St. Peter's Square and can be reached by a pleasant stroll along the Tiber River. This area of Rome is known for its character, brimming with restaurants, nightclubs, and bars. It welcomes tourists from around the world but is also beloved by Romans themselves. It's impossible not to love its narrow streets and alleys!

The Triumphal Market is considered Rome's first local market. It is certainly the largest, with 273 stalls, and is among the largest in Italy and even Europe. Located halfway between Ottaviano and Cipro, it is therefore very easy to reach.

Adjacent to St. Peter's, it is mistakenly called a castle, but it was originally built as a tomb dedicated to the Emperor Hadrian. It was later included within the Aurelian Walls and from that moment on took on the role of a 'castellum', a sort of watchtower on the Tiber to protect the city. In subsequent years, its function changed, becoming a residence or refuge for the pontiffs in times of danger.

In ancient times, Ponte Sant'Angelo was called Pons Aelius, named after Emperor Aelius Hadrian, who commissioned it to connect the city to the entrance of his mausoleum: the present-day Castel Sant'Angelo. The appearance of the bridge, now commonly called Sant'Angelo for the statue of the Archangel that overlooks the castle, has undergone various transformations: two statues depicting Saints Peter and Paul were added, and it was further enriched with ten statues of angels bearing the symbols of Christ's Passion. Bernini, commissioned by Clement IX, designed the figures, entrusting their execution to his students.

The Passetto, or er Corridore (the Corridor), of Borgo is an elevated, fortified passageway and the name given to the stretch of the Vatican Walls connecting the Vatican to Castel Sant'Angelo. It has allowed many popes to seek refuge in the castle in times of danger.

The Janiculum is undoubtedly one of the most evocative places in Rome. The main square is dominated by the imposing equestrian statue of Giuseppe Garibaldi, which, together with the marble busts of Garibaldi's heroes, lends a solemn character to this "Park of Memory" dedicated to the defense of the Roman Republic of 1849. From the Belvedere in the main square, one can enjoy one of the most beautiful and evocative panoramas of the city, guided by explanatory panels placed along the balustrade. Also on the Janiculum Hill is the fountain known as the 'Fontanone del Gianicolo': it dominates the large terrace overlooking the city. It was built as the terminal point of the Trajan-Paul Aqueduct, at the request of Pope Paul V Borghese (1605-1621), whose emblems (dragon and eagle) recur in several places on the monument.

Via Ottaviano has been called the "red carpet" that leads from the metro station of the same name to St. Peter's. Besides being a transit point for the numerous pilgrims heading to St. Peter's Square, over the years it has also become one of the city's shopping streets. Via Cola di Rienzo was inaugurated in 1911 and connects Piazza della Libertà, near the Tiber, with Piazza del Risorgimento near the walls of the Holy See. The street, also known as "Corso di Roma," is lined with fashion and food shops that make it very similar to Via del Corso.
